José María Forqué Galindo (born March 8, 1923 – died March 17, 1995) was a famous Spanish screenwriter and film director. He was known for creating many movies and TV shows.

José María Forqué was a very important person in Spanish cinema. He was the father of the well-known actress Verónica Forqué and the director Álvaro Forqué.
He passed away on March 17, 1995, in Madrid when he was 72 years old. He was married to Carmen Vázquez-Vigo, who was an actress and a writer for plays. She lived until she was 95.
To honor his work, the José María Forqué Awards were created. These awards celebrate the best movies and TV shows in Spain each year.
