Joseph Henry Blake, 1st Baron Wallscourt (born 5 October 1765 – died 28 March 1803), was an important Irish politician. He was known as the 1st Baron Wallscourt. Early Life and Family

Joseph Henry Blake was the oldest son of Joseph Blake and Honoria Daly. He grew up in a family that was involved in Irish society.

A Career in Politics

In 1790, Joseph Henry Blake became a member of the Irish House of Commons. This was like the parliament of Ireland back then. He represented the area of County Galway. He held this position until 1800. In that year, the Irish Parliament was closed down.

Becoming a Baron

In 1800, Joseph Henry Blake received a special honor. He was made a Baron Wallscourt in the Peerage of Ireland. This meant he became a lord, with the title connected to Ardfry in County Galway. This was a very important title at the time.

Marriage and Later Life

Lord Wallscourt married Lady Louisa Catherine Mary Bermingham in 1784. Her father was Thomas Bermingham, 1st Earl of Louth. Joseph and Louisa had one daughter, Anastasia Blake. She later married Luke Dillon, who was the 2nd Baron Clonbrock.

Lord Wallscourt passed away in March 1803. He was 37 years old. After his death, his nephew, Joseph Henry Blake (who was the son of his brother, Captain Ignatius Blake), later inherited the title of Baron Wallscourt. Lady Wallscourt married again in 1804 to James Daly. She died in May 1827 when she was 62.
