Joseph Harris (born around 1650, died 1715) was a talented English actor and writer for the stage. He performed in many plays during a time when theatre was very popular. He also wrote three plays himself.

Joseph Harris: A Stage Star

Joseph Harris began his acting career around 1685. His first known performance was in a play called The Bloody Brother. At first, some people might have confused him with other actors named Harris. These included William Harris or the famous Restoration actor Henry Harris.

Joseph Harris was part of a group called the United Company. He stayed with them until 1695. Then, he joined a new acting group led by Thomas Betterton. This new group performed at the Lincoln's Inn Fields Theatre. Joseph Harris continued acting there until about 1705. Some records even suggest he acted as late as 1715.

Joseph Harris: Playwright

Besides acting, Joseph Harris also wrote plays. He wrote three plays that were performed on stage. These plays were The Mistakes (written in 1690), The City Bride (written in 1696), and Love's a Lottery (written in 1699).
