José Antonio Piqueras Arenas, born in 1955, is a Spanish historian. He is a professor of history at Jaume I University (UJI). His studies focus on how people interact in society and how political ideas shape history.

Professor Piqueras has written about many important topics. These include the history of the labour movement (which is about workers' rights), slavery, Spain in the 1800s, and the history of places like Cuba and the Antilles.

José Antonio Piqueras was born in 1955 in Enguera, a town in Valencia, Spain. He studied at the University of Valencia (UV). In 1990, he earned his PhD, which is the highest university degree.

He became a senior lecturer at Jaume I University (UJI) in 1993. A lecturer is like a teacher at a university. In 1998, he became a full professor in the area of Contemporary History. This means he teaches and researches recent history.

Professor Piqueras also helps edit Historia Social, which is a very important Spanish magazine about social history. Social history looks at the lives of ordinary people and how society has changed over time.

In 2014, he was chosen as a corresponding member of the Academy of History of Cuba. This means he is recognized for his knowledge and contributions to Cuban history.
