José López Rubio (born December 13, 1903, in Motril, Granada Province, Spain – died March 2, 1996) was a very talented Spanish writer, film director, and humorist. He wrote plays for the theater, scripts for movies, and even directed some films. He also studied the history of theater.

José López Rubio even worked in Hollywood, the famous movie city in the United States. He wrote songs for Paramount Pictures, a big movie studio. He was nominated for an Oscar, which is one of the most important awards in the film world, for his work on the movie Treasure of the Sierra Madre. This shows how talented and recognized he was! Many people consider him one of the most important Spanish artists of the 20th century.
