Discovering Joy: A Community's Past
The community of Joy got its name from the Joy family. They were among the first people to settle in this area.
Long ago, Joy even had its own post office! In 1886, people described Joy as a "hamlet." This means it was a very small village, with only about half a dozen houses.
Joy was also known by another name, "Winfred." The post office that served the community eventually closed down in 1924.
Local Landmarks: Joy Cemetery
Just north of the community, you can find the Joy Cemetery. This is a local landmark for the area.
