Aldama is a city in the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua. It is also the main town of the Aldama area. In 2020, about 22,568 people lived in Aldama.

A Look Back: Aldama's History
Aldama started a long time ago, on August 7, 1671. A person named Captain Pedro Cano de los Ríos set up two places there for raising cattle.
Later, in 1717, some Franciscan friars (religious brothers) built a mission called San Jerónimo. Their goal was to teach the local native people, known as the Conchos and Chinarras, about their religion.
Aldama's Economy
The main way people in Aldama make money is through farming. This means growing crops and raising animals.
Selling goods and services, known as commerce, is also becoming very important. Shops in Aldama offer products to people who live there. They also serve people traveling between the city of Chihuahua and Ojinaga. Many people from Aldama also travel to Chihuahua city for work or to go to college.

Transportation in Aldama
The most important road in Aldama is Mexican Federal Highway 16. This road goes through Aldama from east to west. It connects Aldama to Chihuahua, Coyame, and Ojinaga. Ojinaga is a place where you can cross into the U.S. state of Texas. The part of the highway between Aldama and Chihuahua is a four-lane road, and you don't have to pay a toll to use it.
Education in Aldama
Aldama has schools for different age groups. There are public kindergartens, elementary schools, and middle schools. These schools are supported by both the federal and state governments. After finishing middle school, students often travel to the city of Chihuahua to continue their studies at a university.
