Biography
Early Life and Theater Work
Julie Hébert grew up in a small town along the coast of Louisiana. Many of her early plays were inspired by this area. After finishing college, she moved to San Francisco.
She started her career by directing and writing plays for various theater companies. These included the Magic Theater and the Bay Area Playwrights Festival. Soon, her work was shown at national theater companies across the United States. Julie Hébert's plays have won two PEN Awards for Drama, which are important awards for writers. Her play Tree opened in San Francisco Playhouse in 2015.
Moving into Film and Television
Julie Hébert also worked on films. She helped adapt a novel called Female Perversions into a screenplay. This screenplay was then made into a film in 1996.
In 2001, Julie Hébert started working in television. She trained with a well-known producer named John Wells. Her first TV writing job was for the show Third Watch. She wrote two episodes for the second season. One of these episodes, "Know Thyself," won a special award called a Prism Award.
Later that year, she began directing TV episodes. She co-directed a special episode about 9/11 for Third Watch with John Wells. They won a George Foster Peabody Award for this episode. In 2004, she started directing episodes for The West Wing, which was also a John Wells production. She directed two episodes for the fifth season and one for the sixth season.
From 2005 to 2009, Julie Hébert was a writer and producer for the show Numb3rs. She wrote several episodes for the second, third, fourth, and fifth seasons. She also directed some episodes for the show, including "Nine Wives" and "Power." She was promoted to co-executive producer during her time on Numb3rs.

In 2010, Julie Hébert worked on other TV series. She wrote two episodes for the CBS show Blue Bloods. She also directed an episode of The Good Wife.
