Plot Summary: An Australian Adventure
This movie follows Michael, who has grown up a lot since the first film. He cares more about others now. However, he still thinks he should get a top job at his dad's law firm right away. His dad offers him a starting job as a clerk. He explains that Michael needs to learn the business and finish law school first.
Stranded on a Desert Island
Michael decides to take a summer trip to Australia with his cousin Tommy. Michael plans to impress Tommy with a fancy yacht trip. But when they arrive, the "luxury yacht" turns out to be an old, rusty fishing boat!
Things get even more exciting when modern-day pirates start chasing their boat. The pirates are led by a man named Frakes. He had earlier stolen Michael's wallet and learned that Michael comes from a rich family. The pirates want to kidnap Michael for a lot of money.
To escape the pirates, Michael, Tommy, and the boat's captain, Jake Hunter, are forced to jump into the ocean. They become stranded on a desert island. Captain Jake had purposely sunk the fishing boat to lose the pirates. He later admits he never liked being a fishing boat captain anyway.
Outsmarting the Pirates
After several days, the pirates finally find the boys. Michael tries to get help by shooting a flare gun, hoping an airplane will see it. As they try to leave the island on a raft, two pirates approach them. Michael and Jake swim away, leaving Tommy behind because he can't get his life jacket off. They promise to come back for him.
Michael and Jake come up with a clever plan to rescue Tommy. Jake and Tommy manage to trick the pirates and escape in the pirates' speedboat. Frakes tries to shoot Michael, but his gun is jammed with quicksand from an earlier chase. This leaves the bad guys stranded on the island.
A New Beginning
As the boys speed away, they call the Australian Coast Guard for help. The pirates are arrested, and their speedboat is taken by the authorities.
Later, Michael has lunch with his father and Tommy's mom. He tells Jake and Tommy that the pirates' speedboat is now theirs, thanks to a law that allows seized property to be given away. Michael suggests they use the speedboat and the reward money to start a boat tour business together. Jake would be the captain.
Michael also tells his father that he will apply for law school and take the clerking job. His father is very proud of Michael for making these mature choices. Michael now understands that success comes from hard work, not just from being born into a wealthy family.
