About the Show
How the Show Works (Series 1-4)
The first four series of Justin's House were filmed in front of a live audience of children at the Dock 10 studios in Manchester. It was like a big stage show!
Each episode usually started with Robert the Robot singing his "Dusting for Justin" song. Then, he'd welcome everyone and introduce the episode's main idea with Little Monster's help. Justin would make a grand entrance, often causing a bit of a mess, like throwing custard pies! After that, Justin and Robert would sing the "Justin's House" song. Every show ended with Justin, Robert, and any special guests singing a final song together.
From Series 2 onwards, the set got a colourful staircase leading to an upstairs balcony. This area had Justin's bed, wardrobe, and bathroom. Plus, a friendly zebra named Dave joined the fun! Dave would fly to Justin's House in a hot air balloon and crash into the wall, with his head always sticking out at the back of the set.
How the Show Works Now (Series 5-Present)
Series 5 brought a brand-new look and feel to Justin's House! Dave the Zebra isn't there anymore, and Justin's house has been redecorated. You can't see the upstairs, but now the characters can go out into the garden and even into Robert's workshop!
These newer series are filmed in a closed studio without a live audience, making them more like a sitcom. This change happened partly because of the COVID-19 rules. The show now usually starts with Robert, then Justin comes in, and they sing the 'Who's in the House?' song together. Just like before, every episode ends with Justin, Robert, Little Monster, and any special guests singing a song. Most episodes even finish with a fun blast of confetti! Series 6 has kept this new style, with a few extra decorations and a bigger porch.
