Kaede Dobashi (土橋 楓, Dobashi Kaede, born January 11, 1996), known professionally as Kaede (楓, Kaede), is a Japanese dancer, singer, model, and actress. She works with a company called LDH. Kaede is a member of the J-pop girl group f5ve. She was also a member of the popular groups E-girls and Happiness. Kaede is a special model for CanCam magazine.

Early Life and Dance

Kaede was born on January 11, 1996. Her hometown is Yokosuka, a city in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. She has a younger brother and a younger sister.

She started dancing when she was in fourth grade. Later, she went to a dance school in Yokosuka. There, she met Exile's Tetsuya, who became her teacher. In junior high, she joined the Exile Professional Gym (EXPG) in Tokyo. She then performed as a background dancer for Exile at their events, in music videos, and on tour.

Kaede's Career Journey

Starting with Happiness

In October 2008, a new dance group called Happiness was formed. The members were all graduates from EXPG. Kaede was chosen to be one of the dancers. She started her activities using the name KAEDE.

Modeling and E-girls

Kaede began her modeling career in March 2011. She appeared in the fashion magazine Glamorous. Happiness officially debuted with their song "Kiss Me" on February 9, 2011. In April, Kaede and all the other members of Happiness also joined E-girls. This meant they would be part of both groups at the same time.

On June 3, 2013, she changed her stage name from KAEDE to Kaede (楓). In July, Kaede became an exclusive model for the fashion magazine CanCam. Her photos appeared in their September issue.

Acting and Magazine Covers

In January 2014, Kaede started acting. She appeared in the Nippon TV series A Perfect Day for Love Letters. Other members of E-girls were also in the show. Later that year, she had her first solo acting role in the drama Shark: 2nd Season.

Kaede was on the cover of CanCam's June issue in April 2015. This was her first time on a magazine cover by herself. It was also the first time an E-girls member appeared alone on a women's magazine cover. Since then, she has been on the cover of CanCam many times.

On August 29, 2017, she released her first photo book. It was titled Nee, Kiite!!.

Recent Activities

On March 1, 2019, Kaede, Ruri, and Sayaka became ambassadors for DeNA's YOKOHAMA GIRLS☆FESTIVAL 2019. This event took place from May 31 to June 2. Kaede even threw the first pitch at a baseball game on the first day.

On April 23, 2019, Kaede was chosen for advertisements for Mister Donut's new Tapioca Drink. She appeared with other E-girls members like Harumi Sato, Nozomi Bando, and Nonoka Yamaguchi. On September 1 of the same year, Kaede announced a special project. She worked with the fashion brand Hash feat.#F to create a collection of designer phone cases.

Personal Life and "Twin Tower"

Kaede is the tallest member of Happiness. She is 1.68 meters tall. In E-girls, she was the second tallest, after Harumi Sato from Flower. Fans started calling them the "Twin Tower" because they were both tall models. This nickname later became their official model-duo name. Kaede and Harumi also worked together in a show called Aoyama One Seg Kaihatsu.
