KaleidoScoops is an American chain of ice cream shops. It started in 1999. A group of people who used to own Baskin-Robbins ice cream shops created it. They formed a special group called a "co-operative" after their old agreements ended. Today, KaleidoScoops has 5 locations in 3 different states across the U.S.

The Story of KaleidoScoops

KaleidoScoops began in 1999. It was started by many people who used to own Baskin-Robbins ice cream shops. Baskin-Robbins ended about 200 of their agreements in some Southern areas. These areas were called "nonstrategic."

Over forty of these former owners decided to work together. They formed a new company called KaleidoScoops. This company works as a cooperative, which means the owners share control and profits. Their main office is in Austin, Texas.

Why KaleidoScoops Started

The people who started KaleidoScoops had clear goals. They wanted to make the ice cream even better. They also aimed to lower the costs of running the shops. This way, they could offer better prices to their loyal customers.

When the first shops changed to KaleidoScoops, sales dropped a little at first. But as customers tried the new ice cream, sales quickly went up. They even sold more than before the change!

Growing Bigger and Better

Between 2000 and 2003, KaleidoScoops grew a lot. Its size doubled in just a few years. Many new members joined the cooperative. Some of these new owners had never run an ice cream shop before.

These new people brought fresh ideas to KaleidoScoops. Their new ways of thinking helped the company grow even more. KaleidoScoops expanded into 20 different states. The company is still growing today. More ice cream shop owners from other chains are joining the KaleidoScoops family.
