KaleidoScoops is an American company that runs ice cream shops. It started in 1999. A group of people who used to own Baskin-Robbins ice cream shops created it. They formed a special kind of business called a "co-operative." Today, KaleidoScoops has 5 shops in 3 different states across the United States.
The Story of KaleidoScoops
KaleidoScoops was created in 1999. It was started by many people who used to own Baskin-Robbins ice cream shops. These owners are called "franchisees." Their old company ended their agreements in some areas. More than 40 of these former owners decided to work together. They formed a new company called KaleidoScoops. This company works as a cooperative and is based in Austin, Texas.
The people who started KaleidoScoops had clear goals. They wanted to make better ice cream. They also wanted to lower their business costs. This way, they could offer good prices to their loyal customers.
Growing the Business
When the first shops changed to KaleidoScoops, sales went down a little at first. But as customers tasted the new ice cream, sales quickly went up. They even sold more than before the change!
Between the years 2000 and 2003, KaleidoScoops grew much bigger. Many new people joined the co-operative. Some of these new owners had never run an ice cream shop before. They brought new ideas and ways of thinking to KaleidoScoops. These fresh ideas helped the company grow. KaleidoScoops expanded into 20 states. The company continues to grow. More owners from other ice cream chains are still joining the KaleidoScoops family.
