Life and Career

Kali Hawk grew up in Manhattan, a part of New York City. Her father worked in merchandising, and her mother was a buyer for the famous store Bloomingdale's. Hawk has African-American, Native American, and German Jewish family roots. For college, she attended the State University of New York at Purchase.

Her career began with appearances in commercials and music videos. In 2007, she showed off her comedy skills as a contestant on the fifth season of the TV show Last Comic Standing.

In 2012, Hawk was cast in a new version of the classic comedy show In Living Color, but the show was not made. During that time, she also had a memorable role as Shelby in the popular comedy series New Girl.

In 2019, Hawk was set to join the cast of the ABC show Schooled as a science teacher. However, the role was later given to another actress before any episodes with her were filmed.
