Early Life and Family
Kane Tologanak was born near a place called Kangiqhuk, close to Cambridge Bay. This was around the year 1950. He married Elik in about 1974. They had four children and seven grandchildren. Kane Tologanak was also the first cousin of Donald Havioyak, who was another important politician in Nunavut. Kane Tologanak died in Gjoa Haven.
His Time as a Politician
Kane Tologanak was chosen by the people to be a Member of the Northwest Territories Legislature. He was elected in 1979 to represent the Central Arctic area. This means he helped make decisions for that region.
During his time in government, he took on important roles. In 1981, he became the minister of supply and services. This job meant he was in charge of making sure the government had the things it needed. Later, he also served as the minister of health, helping to look after the health of people in the Northwest Territories. He served for one term, which is a set period of time, until 1983.
