A Bit of History
The Karakar Pass has seen some important historical events. In 1586, a large army led by Emperor Akbar tried to invade the Swat region. This army had about 8,000 soldiers. However, they faced many difficulties at this pass and lost a big part of their army. This shows how challenging mountain passes can be, even for powerful armies.
The Road Through the Pass
There is a road that goes through the Karakar Pass. This road is about 45 kilometers (28 miles) long. It connects the town of Pir Baba to Barikot. As you travel along this road, you'll see Mount Ilam. The road also passes through thick, old pine forests, making the journey very scenic.
