Karim Rasheed Mayfield (born December 14, 1980) is an American professional boxer. He competes in the welterweight division. He used to be the champion of the NABO in the junior welterweight category.

Karim Mayfield's Early Life
Karim Mayfield was born and grew up in San Francisco, California, in a famous area called the Fillmore District. He has three brothers and two sisters. His mother is a business owner, and his father is an electrician.
Becoming a Boxer
Karim Mayfield played football as a running back in school. He found boxing a bit later, when he was 20 years old. A new gym opened near his home, and he decided to check it out. He ended up sparring with an amateur boxer who had been training for a year. Karim did very well, which made him want to become a professional boxer. His trainer is Ben Bautista.
Amateur Boxing Career
As an amateur, Karim Mayfield had 58 fights. He won 54 of them and lost only 4. In 2006, he won the Golden Gloves in San Francisco. He also earned a Bronze medal in the Western Trials for the 2004 Olympics.
Professional Boxing Career
On June 23, 2006, Karim Mayfield had his first professional fight. He won against Chris Mickle. This event also featured future world champions like Robert Guerrero and Andre Dirrell.
Winning a Championship
On October 1, 2011, Karim Mayfield won his first big title. He became the WBO NABO Junior Welterweight champion. He won this title in Tunica, Mississippi, by beating Patrick Lopez in a 10-round fight. Patrick Lopez was a former Olympian from Venezuela.
A Famous Mention
On June 20, 2015, the famous boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. told ESPN that he might fight Karim Mayfield next. Many boxing writers didn't think he was serious. But Mayweather insisted he wasn't joking. He said, "Pacquiao fought (Chris) Algieri, so why not?" This showed that Karim Mayfield was a respected fighter in the boxing world.
