Katharine O'Brien is an American filmmaker. She is a talented film director, screenwriter, and film editor. She also works as a camera operator, art director, and executive producer. Katharine is well-known for her movies The Automatic Hate and Lost Transmissions.

Making Movies: Katharine O'Brien's Journey

Katharine O'Brien started her career by directing, writing, and editing several short films. Short films are usually less than 40 minutes long. Some of her early works include Night Taxi (made in 2008) and Waiting Room (from 2009). She also made Doppleganger (2009), The Park (2010), Illusive Fields (2012), and Breaking News (2018).

In 2015, Katharine O'Brien helped write her first full-length movie, called a feature film. This movie was The Automatic Hate. It starred actor Joseph Cross. The film was first shown to the public at the South by Southwest festival on May 14, 2015. It then came out in movie theaters around the world on March 11, 2016.

Later, in 2019, O'Brien directed and wrote the movie Lost Transmissions. This film featured actor Simon Pegg. Lost Transmissions had its first showing at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 28, 2019. It was then released in North American movie theaters on March 13, 2020.
