Katharine O'Brien is an American film director, screenwriter, and film editor. She is also a camera operator, art director, and executive producer. She is well known for her movies The Automatic Hate and Lost Transmissions.

Her Work in Film

Katharine O'Brien began her career by directing, writing, and editing several short films. A short film is a movie that is not long enough to be considered a feature film. Some of her early short films include Night Taxi (2008) and The Park (2010).

In 2015, Katharine O'Brien helped write her first feature film, The Automatic Hate. A feature film is a movie long enough to be the main film in a cinema program. This movie starred Joseph Cross.

The Automatic Hate was first shown at the South by Southwest festival on May 14, 2015. After that, it was released in movie theaters around the world on March 11, 2016.

In 2019, O'Brien directed and wrote the movie Lost Transmissions. This film featured actor Simon Pegg. It was first shown at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 28, 2019. The movie then came out in North American theaters on March 13, 2020.
