Meet Kathleen Knox

Kathleen Knox was born in 1847. Her parents were Charles George Knox and Isabella Hannah Bent. She was one of four daughters in her family. Her father was a high-ranking church official. He was also the younger brother of Robert Knox, who was a very important church leader in Ireland.

Kathleen started writing poetry when she was still in school. Her poems were published in a newspaper called the Belfast Weekly Whig. Later, she began writing novels. Many of these books were for children and included exciting fairy tales. Her books were published by companies like Griffith & Farran in London and Marcus Ward & Co in Belfast.

From 1888, Kathleen Knox started writing poetry again. Her new poems appeared in local newspapers. She even won prizes for her writing.
