Kathrin Klamroth facts for kids
Kathrin Klamroth, born in 1968, is a German scientist. She is a mathematician and a computer scientist. She studies how to find the best solutions to problems, like where to place new buildings or services. She teaches at the University of Wuppertal in Germany.
Her Journey in Science
Kathrin Klamroth studied at the Technical University of Braunschweig. She earned her doctorate degree in 1994. This is a very high university degree. Her main project was about "Ramsey numbers," which are special numbers in math.
Later, in 2002, she completed her "habilitation" at the University of Kaiserslautern. This allowed her to become a university professor. She then started teaching at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. In 2008, she moved to the University of Wuppertal, where she still teaches today.
Books She Has Written
Kathrin Klamroth has written important books about her research. In 2000, she co-wrote a textbook with Horst Hamacher. It was called Lineare und Netzwerk-Optimierung/Linear and network optimization. This book helps students learn about finding the best ways to connect things, like in computer networks.
She also wrote a book by herself in 2002. It is called Single-facility location problems with barriers. This book explains how to find the best spot for one building or service when there are obstacles in the way.
Awards and Recognition
In 2019, Kathrin Klamroth received a special award. The International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making gave her the Georg Cantor Award. This award recognized her important work. Her research helps people make better decisions when there are many different things to consider.
