Houston Dash
In April 2019, Kayla joined the Houston Dash, a professional football team in the United States. She played with them for the 2019 season.
Rangers
In May 2021, Kayla started training with Rangers, a well-known club in Scotland. She officially signed with them a few months later. She played for Rangers until 2023.
Villarreal
In July 2023, Kayla moved to Spain and signed with Villarreal. She played for this Spanish team for about a year.
Madrid CFF
Since 2024, Kayla has been playing for Madrid CFF, another club in Spain. She continues to be a key player for her team.
Playing for Her Country
Kayla McKenna made her first appearance for the Jamaica national team in a friendly match against Chile on February 28, 2019. Jamaica won that game 1–0.
She was chosen to be part of Jamaica's squad for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France. However, she had a knee injury before the tournament began and was replaced by another player, Mireya Grey.
Kayla has scored two goals for Jamaica. Both goals came in a match against Saint Kitts and Nevis in February 2020, during the CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship.

Kayla's grandparents were born in Jamaica, which is why she plays for the Jamaican national team. Her grandfather is Pearnel Charles. In June 2022, Kayla married Ciaran McKenna in Illinois, USA.
