In 2007, Murakami joined Kawasaki Frontale, another team in the J1 League. He quickly became a regular player, usually as a left-sided midfielder. In 2008, he played less because of another player, Satoru Yamagishi. However, in 2009, Murakami became a regular left-sided defender again.
During his time at Kawasaki Frontale, the team did very well. They finished second in the J1 League for two years in a row, in 2008 and 2009. They also reached the finals of the Emperor's Cup in 2007 and 2009 Emperor's Cup.
