About Keariene Muizz
Early Life and Art
Keariene Muizz was born in Chicago. As a child, she moved around the United States quite a bit. She went to three different high schools during her first year! She eventually graduated from Whittier High School.
During her high school years, Keariene started to explore her creative side. She began sculpting, which means making art by shaping materials. Her teachers noticed her talent. She loved to think logically about the world around her. This way of thinking later helped her when she started drawing and painting the detailed buildings and statues of Paris.
Starting Her Art Career
When Keariene was 19, she started buying art supplies. She wanted to move from drawing in sketchbooks to painting on canvases. She once told the Associated Press that she felt "a knot in my heart that I could not untie with words." This feeling pushed her to create art.
Keariene went on an adventure to Europe for six weeks all by herself. She visited England, Greece, Italy, and France. This trip truly inspired her to become an artist. When she came back home, she finished her very first painting. It was a portrait of her older sister. This also sparked her interest in using different kinds of materials in her artwork.
In 2006, Keariene opened her first art gallery. Later, she moved her gallery, called Muizz Gallery, to Lido in Newport Beach.
Keariene is also known for her Sacred Stones Collection. In this collection, she painted the tombs (graves) found in the famous Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. She was the first artist to focus on these tombs in her work.
One of her oil paintings, called "Playing G-d," was later turned into a maxi dress. Keariene sewed the dress herself using only the painting!
