Keiji Ishizuka (石塚 啓次, Ishizuka Keiji, born August 26, 1974) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a forward for several teams in Japan's professional leagues.

Keiji Ishizuka's Football Journey

Keiji Ishizuka was born in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, on August 26, 1974. He grew up loving football and played throughout his school years. After finishing high school, he joined a professional team called Verdy Kawasaki in 1993. This team later became known as Tokyo Verdy.

Early Career at Verdy Kawasaki

When Keiji first joined Verdy Kawasaki, he played as an offensive midfielder. This position is like a playmaker who helps create scoring chances. However, it was tough for him to become a regular starter. There were many famous players on the team, like Ruy Ramos and Bismarck, who were already playing in his position.

In August 1997, Keiji got a chance to play more. He moved to Consadole Sapporo on a temporary loan. This team was in the Japan Football League at the time. He played in many games there, which helped him gain more experience.

Returning to Tokyo Verdy and New Roles

In 1998, Keiji Ishizuka returned to Verdy Kawasaki. From 1999 onwards, he started playing more often as a forward. A forward's main job is to score goals. He played many matches in this new role.

However, by 2002, he didn't play as much as before. So, he decided to move to a new team.

Moving to Other Clubs and Retirement

In 2003, Keiji joined Kawasaki Frontale, a team in the J2 League. Unfortunately, he didn't get much playing time there either. Later that year, in September, he moved to another team called Nagoya Grampus Eight. He still found it hard to get on the field regularly.

At the end of the 2003 season, Keiji Ishizuka decided to retire from professional football. He had played for over a decade in Japan's top leagues.
