Keith Pringle is an American gospel singer, songwriter, and organ player. He was born on August 6, 1952. Keith Pringle is famous for starting the Pentecostal Community Choir. He has released many albums since 1979. Several of his albums have been very popular on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart. He even received a nomination for a Grammy Award for his song "Call Him Up."
Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Keith Pringle was born in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in the Church of God in Christ. When he was about 16, he became the organist for the New Bethel Young People's Choir. After finishing high school, he lived in Chicago, Illinois for a while. Later, he moved to Los Angeles, California.
While in Los Angeles, he studied at Los Angeles City College. He also attended Reverend James Cleveland's church. Rev. Cleveland noticed Keith's talent. He asked Keith to play the organ during a church offering. In 1978, Keith sang on Rev. Cleveland's live recording of "No Ways Tired." This song became very successful. It even earned a gold record and a Grammy nomination.
Keith Pringle's Music Career
Keith Pringle started his own music career in 1979. He formed the Pentecostal Community Choir. Their first album, True Victory, was released by Savoy Records. The song "Call Him Up" from this album was nominated for a Grammy Award.
His albums began to appear on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart.
