Kelvin Davis was born on May 26, 1978, in Natchez, Mississippi, USA. He is an American boxer who was once a world champion. He was known by the nickname "Concrete" because of his strong and tough fighting style.

Kelvin Davis started his professional boxing career in 1999. He had an amazing start, staying undefeated in his first 20 fights! During this time, he had a draw (a tie) with David Vedder in 2001. He also won a fight against Arthur Williams, who used to be a champion.

His first loss came against Ravea Springs. Later, in 2003, he fought O'Neil Bell in a special match to decide who would get a chance at the IBF title. Kelvin lost that fight. However, the IBF gave him another chance, and he won against Louis Azille.

In 2004, Kelvin Davis became the IBF Cruiserweight Champion! He won the title by defeating Ezra Sellers. A cruiserweight boxer is usually between 175 and 200 pounds. After winning the title, he did not defend it. In 2005, he lost fights to Guillermo Jones and Steve Cunningham. He also had a draw with heavyweight boxer Charles Shufford in 2006.

A Serious Injury

In June 2007, Kelvin Davis was training for a big fight against Shane Cameron. While on a training run, he had a very serious accident. He was trying to avoid a car and ended up jumping over the Upper Harbour Bridge in Auckland, New Zealand.

This accident caused him to break his neck and his back in two places. He had to stay in a hospital in New Zealand for a month. After 11 hours of surgery, Kelvin began to recover. Many people thought he might not be able to box again because of his injuries.

Returning to the Ring

Even after such a serious injury, Kelvin Davis showed incredible strength and determination. He fully recovered and returned to boxing just four months later! In November 2007, he fought Carl Davis Drumond, who had never lost a fight before. Kelvin lost that match.

After his return, Kelvin had a tough time in the ring. He did not win any of his last eight fights. He even lost by knockout in the first round to boxers like Eric Fields and Alexander Frenkel.

Retirement from Boxing

Kelvin Davis decided to retire from boxing on January 18, 2008. He announced his retirement live on a TV show called Friday Night Fights, right after his loss to Eric Fields.
