Kembo Kibato's Early Life and Youth Career
Kembo Kibato started playing youth soccer with the North Toronto Nitros. He showed great talent from a young age.
In 2017, he played for Team Ontario. They competed in the 2017 Canada Summer Games. His team won the gold medal, which was a big achievement. Later that year, Kibato joined the Toronto FC Academy. This is a special program for young soccer players.
Kembo Kibato's Club Soccer Journey
Kembo Kibato began his senior club career in 2016. He played for the North Toronto Nitros in League1 Ontario. He made two appearances as a substitute that year.
Playing for North Toronto and Toronto FC
In the 2017 season, Kibato became a full-time player for the Nitros. He scored 4 goals in 19 games. His excellent play earned him a spot on the league's third-team all-star list. In 2018, he played for Toronto FC III.
Moving to Europe and the US
In 2019, Kibato tried out for Forge FC in the Canadian Premier League. However, he did not sign with them. On July 18, 2019, he signed with FC Helsingør in Denmark. He played in friendly matches but did not make an official first-team appearance. He left the club in January 2020.
On March 7, 2020, Kibato joined Rio Grande Valley FC. This team plays in the USL Championship in the United States. He made his first appearance for them on July 11, 2020. He scored his first professional goal on August 8. In October, he was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week. This was after he helped his team win with two assists.
Time with FC Tulsa
On April 9, 2021, Kibato moved to FC Tulsa on a loan for the season. He played very well there. At the end of the season, he was named the team's Newcomer of the Year. Because of his strong performance, FC Tulsa signed him permanently for the 2022 season. His contract with FC Tulsa ended after the 2022 season.
Recent Club Moves
On December 12, 2022, Kibato signed with Hartford Athletic. This is another team in the USL Championship. He played for them during their 2023 season.
On February 29, 2024, Vancouver FC announced they had signed Kibato. He joined them on a two-year contract for the 2024 Canadian Premier League season.
In September 2024, Kibato was transferred to York United FC. He signed a contract with them until 2025. This move was part of a player swap deal. He made his debut for York United playing as a left-back. He later returned to his usual midfield position.
