Sir Gerald Kennedy Nicholas Trevaskis (born January 1, 1915, died March 14, 1990) was an important British official and army officer. He worked for the British government in different parts of the world. From 1963 to 1965, he was the top British official in a place called Aden. Aden was a British colony in the Middle East.

Sir Gerald Trevaskis had a long career serving the British Empire. He was known for his work in various British colonies. His role as High Commissioner of Aden was one of his most important jobs. In this position, he was the main representative for Britain in Aden.
Early Life and Military Service
Trevaskis served as a soldier during the Second World War. This was a huge global conflict that lasted from 1939 to 1945. He was an officer in the Northern Rhodesia Regiment. This was a military group from a British territory in Africa called Northern Rhodesia.
In August 1940, while serving in British Somaliland, he was captured by Italian soldiers. He became a prisoner of war (POW). This meant he was held by the enemy until the war ended or he was released. Luckily, he was released in 1941. After his release, he spent the rest of the war working for the British government in Eritrea.
Serving in Aden and a Major Attack
On December 10, 1963, a serious event happened to Trevaskis. He was attacked by a group called the National Liberation Front (NLF). This group was from Yemen and wanted to end British rule in Aden.
The attack happened at Khormaksar Airport. Someone threw a grenade at his group. A grenade is a small bomb that explodes and sends out dangerous pieces. Sir Gerald Trevaskis was hurt in the attack. Sadly, two other people were killed. This attack was a very important moment. It led to a conflict known as the Aden Emergency. This was a time of fighting and unrest in Aden.
