Kim Marie Johnson, born on August 25, 1966, is a British politician. She is a member of the Labour Party. Since 2019, she has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for Liverpool Riverside. An MP is someone elected by people in their local area to represent them in the UK Parliament.
Early Life and Work
Kim Johnson was born on August 25, 1966. She studied youth and community work, as well as social studies.
Before becoming an MP, Kim Johnson worked in community services. She was also a representative for the Unison trade union. A trade union helps workers with their rights and conditions. She also helped with Liverpool's bid to become the Capital of Culture. This role allowed her to represent the city's oldest black community. Since 2015, she has been the Chairperson of Squash Liverpool, a community company. In 2020, she became a patron of Mandela8, a charity.
Becoming an MP
On November 4, 2019, Kim Johnson was chosen as the Labour Party candidate for Liverpool Riverside. She was elected to Parliament in the 2019 general election. She won with a large number of votes.
As an MP, Kim Johnson works in the UK Parliament. She is part of several important groups, called committees. These include the Women and Equalities Committee and the Education Committee. These committees look closely at different areas of government work.

- Police concerns: In June 2022, she raised concerns about the police in her area. She said they were "institutionally racist" after officers stopped and searched two black men.
- Apology for language: In February 2023, during a debate, she used strong language to describe the Israeli government. She later apologized for her words in Parliament.
In the 2024 general election, Kim Johnson was re-elected as the MP for Liverpool Riverside.
