Starting His Wrestling Journey

King Parsons began his wrestling career in 1979. He learned his moves from a trainer named Nick Kozak. His first big step was joining the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) in Houston, Texas. This promotion was run by Paul Boesch.

Boesch helped King get a job in the NWA's Pacific Northwest area. There, he teamed up with another wrestler, Rocky Johnson. Together, they won the tag team title, which is a championship for wrestling duos. King also wrestled in places like Arkansas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah.

Big Matches and Rivalries

In 1982, King Parsons moved to Jim Crockett Promotions. He teamed with Porkchop Cash. They had exciting matches against Don Kernodle and Jim Nelson. These matches were for the NWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Championship.

In 1983, King joined World Class Championship Wrestling. He had big rivalries with wrestlers like the One Man Gang and Chris Adams. One famous feud was with Buddy Roberts. Roberts cut King's hair, but King got his revenge by making Roberts bald with hair cream!

Famous Catchphrases

King Parsons was not just a great wrestler. He was also known for his amazing talking skills on the microphone. He had many fun catchphrases that fans loved. Some of these included "rooty poot" and "Hubba Bubba, not a speck of trubba." He also often said, "Like Momma says, it be's that way sometimes -- have mercy!"

Forming Teams and Winning Titles

In 1984, King Parsons formed a team called "Rock 'n' Soul" with Buck Zumhofe. They had a big rivalry with a team known as The Super Destroyers. King also wrestled briefly in Texas All-Star Wrestling in 1986. There, he formed the "Dream Team" with Tiger Conway Jr..

Later, King joined the Universal Wrestling Federation. In 1987, he had a big rivalry with Chris Adams and Savannah Jack. He also joined Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts. They worked together against Michael Hayes and the Von Erichs. During this time, King was known as the "Blackbird." He even formed a group called "The Blackbirds."

In 1985, Parsons won the WCWA American Heavyweight Championship. He later lost this title to "Ravishing" Rick Rude. In March 1988, King Parsons won the World Class Heavyweight Championship. This was a very memorable match against Kerry Von Erich. The lights even went out in the arena during the match!

Later Career and Retirement

In the early 1990s, King Parsons wrestled for Herb Abrams' Universal Wrestling Federation. He had a feud with Colonel DeBeers. This was because DeBeers was unfair to an African-American referee, who was King's storyline cousin.

In 1992, Parsons went to the Global Wrestling Federation with Perry "Action" Jackson. They were known as the Blackbirds. They won the tag team title there. Parsons also won the North American title, which was the top championship in that promotion. He also worked for the United States Wrestling Association.

After a serious car accident and the passing of his friend Chris Adams in 2001, King Parsons wrestled less often. He is now semi-retired. However, he still makes appearances from time to time with independent wrestling promotions in Texas. On September 1, 2018, Parsons teamed up with Marshall and Ross Von Erich. They won a match against Tatanka, Kid Kash, and Arrow Club Kyote.
