Kjellaug Pettersen's Life and Work

Kjellaug Pettersen spent many years working in education. From 1979 to 1988, she was a teacher and later the headmistress of Bygdøy School. A headmistress is like the principal of a school.

Working for Equality

Kjellaug was very passionate about making sure everyone had equal chances. In 1981, the Ministry of Education asked her to join a special group. Leading Women's Rights

Kjellaug Pettersen helped start the Women's University in 1983. This was a new and exciting idea to create a place for women to learn and grow.

From 1994 to 1998, she was the President of the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights. This is a very old organization that works to protect and advance women's rights in Norway. As president, she led their efforts to make society more equal.
