Kobi Marimi was born and grew up in Ramat Gan, Israel. His parents are Dalit and Eli Marimi. As a young man, he served as a soldier in the Israel Defense Forces. After his military service, Kobi studied acting at the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio. Today, he lives in Tel Aviv. Before becoming a well-known performer, he worked as a host in a pub and as a cashier at a movie theater.

Starting in Acting

During his time studying acting, Kobi Marimi performed in several plays. These included The Caucasian Chalk Circle, The Comic Illusion, and Prayer. After finishing his studies at Nissan Nativ, he continued to act. He appeared in plays like Every Living Thing Needs and Chambaloo's Treasure. He also played the role of Natan in a play called Messiah Now. For this role, he won the Promising Actor Award in 2017 at the Musical Celebrations in Bat Yam. This was his first time performing with the Israeli Opera. Kobi also won an award for being the most promising actor at Israel's Musical Theatre Festival.

Eurovision Success

Kobi Marimi won the sixth season of HaKokhav HaBa. This TV show is a competition to find Israel's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. Winning the show meant he would represent his country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. The contest was held in his home country, in Tel Aviv. Kobi's song for Eurovision was "Home". This song was chosen for him. In the final competition, he finished in 23rd place, earning 35 points.

Recent Work

In June 2019, Kobi Marimi began performing in a new role. He played Earnest in the play Spring Awakening. This play was shown at the Israeli National Theater, "Habima". In September 2019, Kobi released his very first single, which is a single song, called "Yalla Bye". On January 26, 2020, he released his third single, "Lo Levad".
