Kotaro Yamazaki (born October 19, 1978) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a forward, which means he was usually trying to score goals for his team.

Playing for Clubs

Kotaro Yamazaki was born in Shizuoka, Japan, on October 19, 1978. He started his football journey at Shimizu Higashi High School. After high school, he joined a professional team called Nagoya Grampus Eight in 1997.

At the same time, he also went to Chukyo University. Even though he was part of Nagoya Grampus Eight, he didn't get to play in any official matches. So, in 1999, he left the team and focused on playing for his university's team.

After finishing university, Kotaro Yamazaki joined a local club called Shimizu S-Pulse in 2001. This was a team from his hometown area. In 2003, he moved to Ventforet Kofu, a team in the J2 League. The J2 League is Japan's second-highest football division.

Kotaro Yamazaki helped Ventforet Kofu achieve a big goal. In 2006, his team was promoted to the J1 League, which is the top football league in Japan! He played for Ventforet Kofu until the end of the 2007 season, when he decided to retire from professional football.

Playing for Japan's National Team

In August 1995, Kotaro Yamazaki was chosen to play for the Japan U-17 national team. This team played in the 1995 U-17 World Championship. This is a big international tournament for young players.

He played in all three matches for Japan in that tournament. He even scored a goal against the team from the United States.
