Crius, also known as Krios, is an important figure in ancient Greek mythology. He was one of the powerful group of gods called the Titans. These Titans were the children of Gaia (Earth) and Ouranos (Sky). Crius was known as the Titan god of the constellations, which are groups of stars that form patterns in the sky. He was thought to rule over the southern part of the world.

Crius's Family

Crius had many brothers and sisters, as he was one of the Twelve Titans. His parents were Gaia, the goddess of the Earth, and Ouranos, the god of the Sky. Crius married a minor goddess named Eurybia. She was the daughter of Pontus, the god of the sea, and Gaia.

Crius and Eurybia had three children together. Their sons were Astraeus, Pallas, and Perses. These children also became important figures in Greek mythology.

The Titan War

The Titans, including Crius, were involved in a huge war known as the Titanomachy. This was a massive conflict between the older generation of gods, the Titans, and the younger generation, the Olympian gods. The Olympian gods were led by Zeus, who was the son of the Titan Cronus.

The war lasted for ten long years. In the end, the Olympian gods were victorious. They defeated the Titans and took control of the cosmos.

What Happened to Crius?

After the Olympian gods won the Titanomachy, many of the Titans were punished. Crius, along with his brothers, was cast into Tartarus. Tartarus is a deep and dark abyss in the Greek underworld. It was considered a prison for the defeated Titans. They were kept there so they could not cause any more trouble.

Crius's story is a part of the larger myths about the origins of the gods and the universe in ancient Greek beliefs.
