Kung Fu Chefs (also known as 功夫廚神) is an exciting action movie from 2009. It was directed by Ken Yip. The film stars famous actors like Sammo Hung, Louis Fan, and Vanness Wu. Sammo Hung's real son, Timmy Hung, is also in the movie! This was the last film for actor Lee Hoi-sang. The movie is about cooking, martial arts, and family rivalries.
The Story of Kung Fu Chefs
The movie begins with Wong Kai Joe (Louis Fan). He holds a strong grudge against his uncle, Wong Ping Yee (Sammo Hung). Joe wants to kick his uncle out of their village. He also wants to get the "Dragon Head Cleaver." This special cleaver is a symbol of power for their family.
During a big event, Joe tricks Yee's nephew. He makes the nephew put poison, disguised as salt, into the food. Many guests get sick. Because of this, Wong Ping Yee is forced to leave the village.
The story then introduces Ken'ichi Lung Kin Yat (Vanness Wu). He is a talented young chef. Ken'ichi is the first in his class to graduate. His principal tells him to find Master Sum. The principal believes Master Sum can teach Ken'ichi even more about cooking.
Meanwhile, Wong Ping Yee meets two sisters, Shum Ching (Cherrie Ying) and her younger sister (Ai Kago). They own a restaurant called "Four Seas." The restaurant is having a tough time. Yee decides to help them. He trains Ken'ichi to become a top chef. Ken'ichi will compete against Chef Tin (Lam Chi-chung). Chef Tin is the head chef at a fancy restaurant called "Imperial Palace." The goal is to win the "Top Chef" title.
After the cooking tournament, Yee gets a big surprise. He finds out his brother, who was thought to be gone, is actually alive! Wong Kai Joe watches this happen on TV. He is very upset that his uncle is back and successful.
