On March 7, 2024, a large group of students from a school in Kuriga, a town in Kaduna State, Nigeria, were taken from their school. More than 200 students were involved in this event. It happened in the morning, around 8:30 AM, while the students were gathered for a school assembly. A group of armed people on motorcycles entered the school grounds and took the students.
Students Are Freed
On March 24, 2024, good news arrived. The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, announced that all 287 students had been set free and were safe. A governor is like the leader of a state or region. He thanked President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian Army for their help. The President is the leader of the entire country. The Nigerian Army is the country's military force. The announcement did not share details about how the students were rescued.
