Kylie Belling was born in Melbourne, Australia, on November 22, 1964. She is from the Yorta Yorta and Wiradjuri Aboriginal groups, and also has South Sea Islander heritage. She studied at the University of Melbourne and finished in 1985.

Kylie also became a high school teacher and later earned a Master's degree in Public Health. She has been very active in helping Aboriginal communities in Victoria. She has worked with many groups and government organizations across the state.

Kylie's Acting Career

Kylie Belling is well-known for her roles on television. She played Sarah West in the TV series Prisoner. She was also one of the first actors in The Flying Doctors, where she played Sharon Herbert. Kylie also had a continuing role in The Genie from Down Under as Trish Emu. Later, she appeared in Redfern Now as Patricia.

In movies, Kylie was nominated for an AFI Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1986 for her role in The Fringe Dwellers. She is also famous for playing Geraldine in the 2012 movie The Sapphires.

Kylie was the first actress to play the character Ruby in the play Stolen in 1998. This play is about Indigenous Australians. She performed this role again in 2000 and 2003, in shows across Australia and in other countries. She also acted in many other plays between 1985 and 2008.

Around 1991, Kylie helped start the Ilbijerri Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Theatre Cooperative in Melbourne. She also worked as the artistic director for this theatre group.

Kylie Belling has received several awards for her work. She won a Deadly Award, which celebrates Indigenous Australian achievements. She also received a Koorie Women Mean Business Arts Award and a Sydney Myer Performing Arts Indigenous Award.
