Les Tours Lépine are two tall buildings, also known as The Lépine Towers. Sometimes people call them Le 1200 Ouest de Maisonneuve. These twin skyscrapers are located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. You can find them at 1200 de Maisonneuve Boulevard in a fancy area called the Golden Square Mile.
These towers are special because they have two main uses. They contain both condominiums, which are apartments that people own, and commercial spaces for businesses. In total, there are 340 units inside these buildings. A well-known developer from Montreal, René Lépine Sr., and his company Groupe Lépine, built this impressive project.

Discovering Les Tours Lépine
What Are These Towers Like?
The Lépine Towers are very large buildings. Together, they cover an area of 52,025 square meters. That's about 559,990 square feet! Imagine how much space that is.
The main structure of these buildings is made from reinforced concrete. This is a very strong material that helps the towers stand tall and firm. The outside walls of the towers are made with a special system called a curtain wall. This means the outer walls are non-structural and often made of glass, giving the buildings a sleek, modern look.
How Were They Built?
The land where the Lépine Towers now stand used to be home to another building. It was called the Drummond Court building. René Lépine bought this old building because it was in bad shape. He planned to tear it down and build something new.
The demolition of the Drummond Court building began in the year 2000. Right after it was taken down, construction started on the Lépine Towers. It took about five years to build these twin structures. They were finally finished in 2005.
A New Name for the Towers
After the towers were completed, René Lépine sold them to a company called El-Ad Canada. When the new owners took over, they decided to change the name of the buildings. That's why they are now also known as 1200 Ouest de Maisonneuve.
