The LaSalle Hotel is a historic hotel located in downtown Bryan, Texas, United States. This area is known as a Texas cultural district. The hotel first opened its doors in 1928. It was added to the important National Register of Historic Places on May 26, 2000.

The LaSalle Hotel has a long and interesting past. It has been an important part of Bryan, Texas, for many years.
A Look Back: The Hotel's History
When the LaSalle Hotel opened in 1928, it was a very impressive building. At seven stories tall, it was the highest building in Bryan at that time. The hotel had one hundred guest rooms for visitors. It also featured a large ballroom and meeting areas. These spaces were later changed into more guest rooms.
The first floor of the hotel was home to several small businesses. Guests could find a tailor to fix clothes or a barber for a haircut. There was also a cozy cafe for snacks and drinks.
A local businessman and city leader named R. W. Howell built the hotel. His family owned the LaSalle for over thirty years. In 1959, J. C. Jacques bought the property. He decided to change the hotel into a nursing home. This home stayed open until 1975. After that, it became a residential hotel with small apartments. The building finally closed its doors in 1980.
The LaSalle Hotel then sat empty for seventeen years. In the late 1990s, a private developer worked with the city of Bryan. They began to renovate and restore the old hotel. The LaSalle Hotel reopened in 2000. This reopening helped to start the rebirth of downtown Bryan. Even so, the hotel faced some challenges. The City of Bryan stepped in to help keep it running.
What is it Like Today?
Today, the LaSalle Hotel has 55 rooms and suites. It has been recently updated and looks very luxurious. It is now known as the LaSalle Boutique Hotel and Downtown Elixir and Spirits. It continues to be a special place in Bryan, Texas.
