History of La Florida
The village of La Florida was first started on November 11, 1820. Its original name was Mombuco. This name means "small valley," which describes the area well. Juan Meneses was the person who founded the village.
At first, Mombuco was part of a church area called the dioceses of San Bartholome of Matituy. Later, in 1843, the village's name was changed to La Florida.
