This company started in Paris, France. Today, it is part of a larger French food group called Groupe Savencia Saveurs & Spécialités.

The Sweet Beginning

How It All Started

In 1977, a talented pastry chef named Robert Linxe had a dream. He opened the very first La Maison du Chocolat store in Paris, France. Robert Linxe learned how to make amazing chocolates in Bayonne, France, and Switzerland. He was a true chocolatier, someone who specializes in making chocolates. His chocolates were so popular that he opened three more stores in Paris between 1987 and 1989. Then, in 1990, La Maison du Chocolat opened its first store in New York City!

New Leaders and Talents

In 1995, Geoffroy d’Anglejan became the general manager of the company. A year later, in 1996, a skilled chocolatier named Nicolas Cloiseau joined La Maison du Chocolat. Robert Linxe noticed Nicolas's amazing work. He was so impressed that he created a special job for Nicolas in product design. This meant Nicolas would help create new and exciting chocolate treats.

Celebrating Success and Future Leaders

In 2007, La Maison du Chocolat celebrated its 30th birthday! It was a big milestone for the company. Geoffroy d’Anglejan chose Gilles Marchal to take over from Robert Linxe. Then, in 2012, d’Anglejan named Nicolas Cloiseau as the new Master Chef. This was a very important role, showing how much Nicolas's talent was valued. Later, in June 2018, Guillaume Mazarguil became the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of La Maison du Chocolat.
