La Maison du Chocolat ("The House of Chocolate") is a famous French company. It makes and sells delicious chocolates. The first store opened in Paris, France. It is now part of a larger French food company called Groupe Savencia.

The Story of La Maison du Chocolat

The company was started by a talented pastry chef named Robert Linxe. He loved making sweets. In 1977, he opened his very first chocolate shop in Paris.

Robert Linxe learned how to make chocolates in Bayonne, France, and Switzerland. A person who makes chocolates is called a chocolatier. He was very skilled!

Over time, his chocolates became very popular. He opened three more stores in Paris between 1987 and 1989. In 1990, La Maison du Chocolat even opened a store in New York City!

New Leaders and Master Chefs

In 1995, Geoffroy d’Anglejan became the general manager. This means he helped run the whole company.

A year later, in 1996, a new chocolatier named Nicolas Cloiseau joined the team. Robert Linxe noticed Nicolas's amazing work. He created a special job for Nicolas to design new chocolate creations.

In 2007, La Maison du Chocolat celebrated 30 years of making chocolate. Geoffroy d’Anglejan chose Gilles Marchal to take over from Robert Linxe.

Later, in 2012, Nicolas Cloiseau became the "Master Chef." This is a very important title. It means he is the main person in charge of all the chocolate recipes and designs. In June 2018, Guillaume Mazarguil became the CEO, or chief executive officer, of the company. He now leads La Maison du Chocolat.
