Lady Emily Foley's Life and Legacy
Growing Great Malvern
Lady Emily played a big part in the fast growth of Great Malvern. This happened in the middle of the 1800s. She made sure that new buildings were spread out. She also wanted houses to have large gardens. And she made sure many trees were kept.
Her family name, Graham, is still remembered today. Graham Road in the center of Great Malvern is named after her family. This road has many large Victorian houses. One of these is the Montrose Hotel.
Helping Her Community
Lady Emily was also very generous. She gave a lot of money to churches and schools. Many of these were in Great Malvern. She did not have any children of her own. Because of this, her estate in Herefordshire, called Stoke Edith House, went to her husband's great-nephew. His name was Paul Henry Foley.
