Laingholm is a small community in West Auckland. It's nestled in the beautiful Waitākere Ranges and sits right on the shores of the Manukau Harbour.
The name Laingholm comes from George and John Laing. They started farming here in 1854. Later, the land was divided into smaller pieces. In 2003, people celebrated 150 years since European settlers first arrived in the area.

A Look at History
A pioneer farmer named George Laing bought a large piece of land here in the mid-1800s. He farmed the valley and lived with his family at a place called Roseneath farmhouse. The area soon became known as Laingholm.
The Laing family continued farming until 1921. In the 1860s, Laingholm and nearby areas grew as farmland. People used the dock at Little Muddy Creek to travel and trade. This was their main way to connect with the outside world. Road access finally became possible in 1914.
