Lake Yale is a beautiful lake located in Lake County, Florida. You can find it north of a community called Grand Island and west of the city of Umatilla. This lake is quite large, covering about 4,020 acres. That's like having over 3,000 football fields!

Discovering Lake Yale

Lake Yale is a freshwater lake in Florida, known for its peaceful surroundings. It's a great spot to learn about nature and enjoy the outdoors. The lake has a drainage basin of about 15,394 acres, which means all the rain that falls in that large area eventually flows into Lake Yale.

What Makes Lake Yale Special?

Lake Yale is mostly surrounded by wetlands, also known as marshland, and gentle sandy hills. These areas are important habitats for many plants and animals. On the west side of the lake, you'll find the Lake Yale Baptist Conference Center.

Rabbit Island

There is only one island on Lake Yale, and it's called Rabbit Island. It's located near the eastern shore of the lake. Islands like this can be special places for wildlife.

The Yale-Griffin Canal

Lake Yale is connected to another lake called Lake Griffin by a waterway known as the Yale-Griffin Canal. This canal runs through a protected area called the Emeralda Marsh Conservation Area. Sometimes, the canal can become very overgrown with plants, making it difficult for boats to pass through.

Getting to Lake Yale

If you want to visit Lake Yale by boat, there's a special place to launch your boat. You can find a boat ramp in Marsh Memorial Park, which is located in the southeast corner of the lake. The bottom of Lake Yale is mostly sandy.
