Discover the Lane Motor Museum

The Lane Motor Museum opened its doors in October 2002. It was started by a car enthusiast named Jeff Lane. He began with his own collection of about 70 to 80 vehicles. The museum is located in an old bakery building in Nashville. It's a non-profit organization, which means it's set up to help the public, not to make money.

What Kind of Cars Will You See?

This museum is famous for its unique collection. You won't just see regular cars here! The museum features many unusual designs from Europe, America, and Asia. Imagine seeing cars that are:

  • Propeller-driven vehicles (yes, like an airplane engine on a car!)
  • Microcars (super tiny cars)
  • Three-wheeled cars
  • Amphibious vehicles (cars that can drive on land and float on water)
  • Cars that use different kinds of fuel
  • Military vehicles
  • Race cars
  • One-of-a-kind cars and prototypes (test models)

The museum is also home to 23 cars made by a company called Tatra. These cars are known for their interesting engineering. Besides cars, you can also see cool car-related art and other items.

Exploring the Museum's Vault

Not all 500+ vehicles can be on display at once. The rest of the collection is stored in a special area called the "Vault." This area is in the basement of the museum building. If you visit on a weekend, you might be able to take a tour of the Vault. It's a great chance to see even more rare and interesting vehicles!

Future Plans for the Museum

The museum has been growing since it first opened. By the end of 2025, the museum plans to make its exhibit space even bigger. They are expanding into what used to be the parking garage. This means there will be even more room for amazing cars and exhibits in the future!
