Serving in the Legislature
Larry Young began his political career in the Maryland House of Delegates. He served there from 1975 to 1988. He represented District 38 in Baltimore City.

While in the House of Delegates, Young held important leadership positions. From 1983 to 1987, he was the Chair of the Environmental Matters Committee. This committee worked on laws about the environment. He also led the Baltimore City Delegation from 1987 to 1988. This group represented Baltimore's interests.
Joining the Maryland Senate
In 1988, Larry Young became a member of the Maryland Senate. He represented different districts in Baltimore City. He served on the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee from 1988 to 1990. After that, he joined the Senate Finance Committee from 1990 to 1998. This committee handles money matters for the state.
Working with the Black Caucus
