Lars Andreas Larssen (born 27 March 1935 – died 29 January 2014) was a famous actor from Norway. He performed on stage, in movies, and on television. He was known for his strong acting skills and his unique voice.

Lars Andreas Larssen's Acting Career

Lars Andreas Larssen was born in a small village called Melbu in Norway. He started his acting journey in 1957. His very first role was a small part in a popular movie called Nine Lives. He had a bigger role in the 1959 film The Master and His Servants.

Life in the Theatre

Lars Andreas Larssen soon discovered his true passion was for the theatre. In 1958, he began his stage career at Folketeatret (which means The People's Theatre) in Oslo. He became a very important person in starting the Torshovteatret (Theatre Torshov). This theatre became a modern and exciting place for plays in the late 1970s.

While he was busy with theatre, Lars Andreas Larssen also kept acting in movies. One of his notable film roles was in the 1983 movie Pirates.

Television Roles

Many people remember Lars Andreas Larssen from his television work. He played a school principal in the Norwegian TV series "Borgen skole" in 1989. He was also known for playing Gundersen, a former boss, in the first season of Mot i brøstet in 1993. Another fun role he had was playing the "wise man" in Norway's version of the game show Fort Boyard, called Fangene på Fortet, in the mid-1990s.

Later Years and Health

In 2003, Lars Andreas Larssen stopped acting. He had been diagnosed with a health condition called Alzheimer's disease. This illness can affect a person's memory and thinking. Because of this, he found it harder to remember his lines for plays. His last public appearance was in 2005.

Peace Work

In 1962, Lars Andreas Larssen and his first wife, Sonja Lid, started something special. They created the Peace Office (Fredskontoret) in Stavanger. This office worked to promote peace. Over the next few years, many other peace offices opened in different towns across Norway.

Family Life and Passing

Lars Andreas Larssen had children from his marriages. With his first wife, Sonja Lid, he had two sons: Vetle Lid Larssen, who became an author, and Gaute Lid Larssen, who became a filmmaker.

He later married Thrine Naumann. They had a son named Lars Larssen Naumann, who became a rapper. After his second marriage ended, Lars Andreas Larssen lived with actress Monna Tandberg for many years.

Living with Alzheimer's

In 2007, Monna Tandberg shared publicly that Lars Andreas Larssen had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2003. She wanted to help people learn more about this illness. She explained that his memory problems had made it difficult for him to continue acting. The illness meant he had to retire from his acting career.

Lars Andreas Larssen passed away peacefully in his sleep on 29 January 2014. He was 78 years old and died from Alzheimer's disease at a nursing home in Oslo.
