Early Life and Music Start

Youssef Akdim was born in Imintanoute, Morocco, on July 4, 1985. When he was seven years old, he moved to France. He lived in cities near Paris, like Bondy and Le Blanc-Mesnil.

At age 15, he joined his first rap group, Malédiction. Three years later, he chose his stage name, Lartiste, which means "the Artist". He taught himself how to make music. In 2006, he released his first collection of songs, called Évasion. People really liked it. While making music, he also worked as a special educator. In 2010, he released his first mixtape, Rap 1.9.

He later signed with a record company called Hostile Records. He recorded his first album, Lalbum, in 2013. However, the album did not get much promotion, so Lartiste decided to work independently again.
