Youssef Akdim (born July 4, 1985), known as Lartiste, is a singer and rapper from France and Morocco. His stage name, Lartiste, means "The artist" in English.
He was born in Imintanoute, Morocco. When he was seven years old, he moved to France. He grew up in towns near Paris, like Bondy and Le Blanc-Mesnil.
When Lartiste was 13, he joined a rap group called Malédiction. By age 16, he started using the name Lartiste.
He released his first solo music in 2006. In 2010, he put out a collection of songs called Rap 1.9 with a group called French Cut.
Lartiste's Music Journey
Lartiste started his solo career with his first album, Lalbum, in 2013. This album mixed many music styles. It had sounds from funk, soul, pop, electronic music, and African music.
He continued to release new albums often. His second album, Fenomeno, came out in 2015. In 2016, he released two more albums: Maestro and Clandestino.
In 2018, his fifth album, Grandestino, was released. A very popular song from this album was "Mafiosa". This song featured the Brazilian singer Caroliina. "Mafiosa" became a huge hit, reaching high spots on music charts in France, Wallonia (part of Belgium), and Portugal. It was a big success for Lartiste.
