Las Galeras is a beautiful coastal town in the Dominican Republic. It's located on the northeast side of the Samaná Peninsula. This area is known for its stunning beaches and clear waters.
The name "Las Galeras" means "The Galleys" in English. A galley was an old warship that used sails and oars. The town got its name because two of these ships stayed here a long time ago, in the 1500s.

Las Galeras is famous for its amazing palm tree-lined beaches. There's a beach right in front of the town called Playa Grande. Another popular white sand beach is Javo Beach La Playita, which is easy to walk to from town.
You can take boat tours from Playa Grande to other beautiful spots like Rincon Beach, Fronton Beach, and Madama Beach. Fronton Beach and Madama Beach are also great places for hiking.
