Last meal facts for kids
A last meal is a special meal given to a person who is about to be executed. This tradition happens in many places around the world. Often, the person can choose what they want to eat for this meal, as long as it's reasonable and available. It's a final custom before the person faces their punishment.
In the state of Texas, in the United States, this tradition changed in 2011. After that year, people facing execution in Texas were no longer allowed to choose a special last meal. Instead, they were given the same regular food that other people in prison eat.
